Merry Christmas from Enright Wildlife and Habitat Solutions! This herd of deer (and a Christmas tree) appeared outside my shop after a recent snow fall!
A surprise opossum!
Despite being careful, sometimes I catch different species than what I am after. This little opossum got a get-out-of-jail free card since groundhogs were causing the problems.
Motion-Activated Sprinklers
Motion-Activated Sprinklers. Keeping deer out of gardens can drive a gardener crazy! I successfully installed a system of 4 motion-activated sprinklers to keep deer out of a garden this summer. They work by squirting the deer but also scaring them with the sound. The sprinklers are motion-activated, so the deer do not learn to ignore them. The only limit, however, is you can’t use them during freezing conditions.

Snakes!
Three snake calls in the last week! This little garter snake was saved from certain death by broom or cat today and was released at a friend’s house in the country.
Caterpillars!
Sometimes, it is the small things that make a difference. This patch of butterfly weed was saved during a recent construction project and the owners were rewarded with 9 monarch caterpillars (I could only fit 4 in the video)! Every little bit of habitat helps!
Groundhogs in the garden!
My phone has been ringing with groundhog issues in gardens and keeping groundhogs out of garden areas requires a special type of fence. Because groundhogs can both dig and climb well, the fence must extend out from the vertical part at both the top and bottom. The bottom is held in place with steel stakes and the top with guide wires on the posts. This is the type of fence that protects my own garden successfully!
Keeping animals out!
One of the most important aspects of my work is wildlife exclusion. Basically, this is altering structures to keep animals out and prevent conflicts with humans. This is a win-win situation as it eliminates the need for trapping and prevents future wildlife issues. This photo is of groundhogs coming out of a one-way door after exclusion material was installed to prevent they from living under a shed.
Skunks in window well!
Busy couple weeks but this one was a wild adventure even for me. Managed to grab six skunks out of a window well and not one sprayed!
New Garage is Done!
I am happy to report that the garage is now complete and I am back to helping people solve their wildlife issues starting today, June 15, 2020.
A new friend from the 2019 National Wildlife Control Operators Association Expo!
I met this critter during a class on reptile handling at the National Wildlife Control Operators Association (NWCOA) Expo in Myrtle Beach recently. He was a very polite little alligator but did pee on my hand. I also received my certification as a Wildlife Control Operator and a Certified Bird Management Operator.
