Got Snakes?
Got snakes? I can help. Thankfully, venomous snakes are very rare in Montgomery County, Ohio. Most snakes I encounter are garter snakes or black rats snakes like this one, who are very docile.
Raccoon damage!
Racoons don’t have those claws for nothing! That strange noise you heard in the middle of the night? Yea, it was a raccoon peeling open a power vent to access the attic!
It's Spring!
It is the season for young critters (this robin's nest is inside one of my traps that I left outside!). For more info on when and how to help young animals, check out Brukner Nature Center's advice- http://www.bruknernaturecenter.com/what-should-you-do-if.html
Squirrely Picture
This squirrel seems to be saying “ Is this is best you can do? Ha!”
Roof with a view!
Sometimes, in the middle of roof-top critter adventures, you just have to stop and admire the view!
First bees of spring!
After the snow and cold, it is always good to see the bees on the winter aconites (first flowers to bloom).
Visiting on old friend!
I got to visit an “old friend” on a sunny Sunday! Thanks to Grace Dietsch and MetroParks for taking care of a place that is near and dear to my heart.
Coyotes in a drain!
Even coyotes are looking for some place to get out of the snow! The tracks told the story at this storm drain that I discovered during a recent hike.
Dead animal smell!
Not all my adventures involve wildlife. A recent call about a dead animal smell sent me searching a crawl space for a dead animal. What I found instead was a serious propane leak near a gas fireplace! Thankfully, the owner was able to turn off the propane immediately and avoid a serious accident. Just another day in the life of a wildlife operator!
